Christoph Körner (born December 1, 1962 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a former German basketball player .

Life

Körner started playing basketball at Eurovia Gelsenkirchen, but switched to Schalke 04 at an early age, where he played in the second team at the age of 16 and was appointed to the youth national team. In 1980 he moved to the first division at TUS 04 Leverkusen, where he was a regular from 1982; In 1985 he won the German championship title with Leverkusen. In 1986 the Leverkusen team achieved the double of championship and cup victory.

In April 1983, Körner made his debut in the German national basketball team. Körner played at the European Championships in 1983 (8th place), 1985 (5th place) and 1987 (6th place) in the German team. The highlight of his international career was the eighth place at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where he was used in all eight games and scored a total of 34 points. Overall, Körner played in 77 games of the German national team, in which he scored 398 points, which corresponds to an average of 5.2 points per game.

Körner is married to the basketball player Christina Szafarczyk . Their daughter Paulina Körner is also dedicated to sport and is part of the women's national team.
