Christoph Kircheis

Christoph Kircheis (* 1935 ; † July 15, 1979 ) was a German church musician, organist and composer.

He studied at the Leipzig University of Music , was cantor since 1962 and church music director at the Chemnitz Palace Church since 1966 . He gave organ concerts in Karl-Marx-Stadt , Berlin, Dresden, Freiberg and Magdeburg, as well as in Finland, Denmark and Sweden and he made radio and record recordings.

Together with Ludwig Güttler , Christoph Kircheis also gave concerts in the western part of Germany.

After Christoph Kircheis' accidental death in 1979, his brother Friedrich Kircheis continued the concert tradition. Recordings made at that time are still used today for CD compilations .

His son Stefan Kircheis is also a church musician ( Bach Prize winner 1988).
