Friedrich Kircheis (* 1940 in Aue ) is a German organist and harpsichordist .

Friedrich Kircheis received his first organ lessons at the age of 14, so that he was able to take on his first cantor position as a student in 1956. He studied organ at the Leipzig University of Music with Wolfgang Schetelich , Hannes Kästner and Robert Köbler and passed his A-exam with distinction in 1964 .

After his studies he worked in Grimma and Dresden as a church musician and as a choir director at the Döbelner Stadttheater. From 1971 to 2005 he was cantor and organist at the Diakonissenhauskirche in Dresden. In 1972, Kircheis won a prize at the IV. International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig. He worked as a harpsichordist and organist in several chamber music associations, including 1975–1982 with the Dresden Chamber Soloists , since 1984 in the Leipzig Bach Collegium and since 1986 in the Virtuosi Saxoniae Chamber Orchestra . He became famous in 1979 as a partner of Ludwig Güttler . After the death of Friedrich Kircheis' brother Christoph , Güttler and Kircheis first played concerts for trumpet and organ, then both played together with the Virtuosi Saxoniae and the Bach Collegium.
