Christoph Kohl (born February 20, 1961 in Bozen , South Tyrol , Italy) is an Italian architect and town planner.

Life

Christoph Kohl studied architecture at the University of Innsbruck , at the Technical University of Vienna and in Italy at the Università Iuav di Venezia in Venice. After running a joint architecture office with Rob Krier in Berlin from 1993 onwards, he was managing partner of the Christoph Kohl Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH from June 2010. In 2018, the office was renamed CKSA, Christoph Kohl Stadter Architekten GmbH, and also takes on services in the field of urban planning and land use planning.

Christoph Kohl places the reconnection with traditional spatial compositions at the center of his urban planning practice. He strives for a downsizing of architecture and thus positions himself against contextless ahistorical and anti-urban developments in urban development. With this anti-modernist and at the same time progressive urban development approach, he is continuing the traditions of the European city . Because of his large-scale, well-composed settlement designs, he is also considered a representative of New Urbanism . For the 2018/19 academic year he is a substitute professor for urban planning / urbanism at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau .
