Christoph Lieben-Seutter (born June 3, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director . He is general director of the Laeiszhalle and Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

Life

Wiener Konzerthaus (2006)

After graduating from high school , he worked as a technical assistant at Philips in Vienna from 1982 , where he trained as a software engineer and worked as a marketing assistant with a pan-European assignment.

In 1988 the general secretary there, Alexander Pereira , appointed him as assistant director at the Wiener Konzerthaus , where over the next five years he familiarized himself with most areas of the concert industry. From 1991 Lieben-Seutter worked in the Konzerthaus as operations director, during which time he was responsible for coordinating appointments and budget planning for the artistic area. From 1993 to 1996 he followed Alexander Pereira as personal assistant to the artistic director at the Zurich Opera House . He then went back to Vienna and from 1996 to 2007 he was General Secretary in the artistic and commercial direction of the Konzerthausgesellschaft and the Wien Modern Festival . In this role he was responsible for over 400 events per season and was also responsible for the general renovation of the concert hall.

Lieben-Seutter has been general manager of the Laeiszhalle and Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg since 2007. His contract was extended in the summer of 2018 until the end of the 2023/2024 season. In the period up to the opening of the Elbphilharmonie, he established the Elbphilharmonie Concerts as a foretaste of the concert program in the new concert hall.

In addition to Federal President Joachim Gauck , Hamburg's First Mayor Olaf Scholz and the architect Jacques Herzog , Lieben-Seutter also spoke at the opening ceremony of the Elbphilharmonie in the Great Hall.

At the 2009 Hamburg International Chamber Music Competition he was on the jury of the final round. Lieben-Seutter was President of the European Concert Hall Organization (ECHO) from 2006 to 2017 and is a board member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra .

Lieben-Seutter has been married to the librettist and actress Theresita Colloredo since July 1996 . They have three daughters together.
