Christoph Marx (historian, 1957)

Christoph Marx (born August 4, 1957 in Landau in the Palatinate ) is a German historian .

Christoph Marx studied history and musicology in Freiburg and Grahamstown (South Africa). In 1987 Marx received his doctorate in Freiburg under Ernst Schulin , in 1996 he completed his habilitation in Freiburg under Wolfgang Reinhard , and since April 2002 Marx has been Professor of Non-European History at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

His work focuses on the history of apartheid in South Africa , comparative history of the colonial frontier , history of the Indian diaspora , comparative colonial history of Africa, North America and the Caribbean , history of Zimbabwe and colonial and national historical myths in Africa.
