Christoph Mohn , born as Christoph Scholz (born July 6, 1965 in Stuttgart ), is a German manager and chairman of the supervisory board of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA . Between May 1997 and May 2009 he was Managing Director of Lycos Europe, based in Gütersloh .

biography

Christoph Mohn was born to Liz Mohn , then Elisabeth Scholz, and Joachim Scholz. It was only at the age of 14 that he found out that his biological father was Reinhard Mohn , with whom his mother had a long love affair and whom she married in 1982.

Christoph Mohn, the son of Liz and Reinhard Mohn , Bertelsmann owners, attended the municipal high school in Gütersloh until 1985. He did basic military service with a Westphalian tank company and then studied business administration at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . From 1992 to 1994 he worked for the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) in New York. From 1994 to 1996 Mohn worked for the management consultancy McKinsey & Company in the electronics and telecommunications sector. In 1996 he became Vice President of the Bertelsmann subsidiary Telemedia for Business Development . From 1997 to May 2009 he was Managing Director of Lycos Europe , which emerged from a joint venture between Bertelsmann AG and the American Lycos Inc. Due to high losses in the double-digit million range, he announced his resignation as a member of the board on May 28, 2009 at the beginning of 2009. In November 2006, Mohn was appointed to the Bertelsmann AG Supervisory Board by resolution of the Annual General Meeting . He had been a permanent guest on the Bertelsmann supervisory body since 2003. In January 2007, Christoph Mohn resigned as a member of Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft (BVG) because the committee to which he had belonged since 2001 was downsized.

Christoph Mohn took over (after Reinhard Mohn's death on October 3, 2009) his father's seat in the BVG and on the board of trustees of the Bertelsmann Foundation .

Christoph Mohn - like his siblings Brigitte and Andreas (* 1968) and the three half-siblings from his father's first marriage - holds a low single-digit percentage in Bertelsmann AG.

Christoph Mohn is married to the mathematician Shobhna Mohn, who comes from India. The couple have three daughters together.
