life and work

Ruckhäberle studied animation at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia in 1991/92 and received a scholarship from the Walt Disney Character Animation Fund in 1993 before he came to Leipzig . There he studied from 1997 to 1999 at the College of Graphics and Book Art , where he was a master student of Arno Rink in 2000 . In 2001 he received the state grant from the Free State of Saxony .

Ruckhäberle had his first solo exhibition in 2001 at the Leipziger Galerie Kleindienst, further exhibitions in France, Great Britain, Denmark and the United States followed.

In 2002 he was a co-founder of the Liga producer gallery in Berlin , which was supported by eleven former students of the College of Graphics and Book Art, including Tim Eitel , Matthias Weischer and Tom Fabritius . The producer gallery league disbanded in 2004 after two years of existence.

Together with Michael Ludwig he founded the Ludwig & Ruckhäberle GbR , which was the sponsor of the cinema, music and literature events at the Schaubühne Lindenfels . Due to insufficient cost coverage, Ludwig and Ruckhäberle ceased commercial cinema operations in the Schaubühne in June 2009 and in October of the same year opened the Luru-Kino , a arthouse cinema in Hall 18 of the former Leipzig cotton spinning mill in the Lindenau district , where Ruckhäberle's studio is also located.

In 2007 Christoph Ruckhäberle founded Lubok Verlag in Leipzig. Since then, original graphic artist books with linocuts by contemporary artists have been published there. Each volume of the Lubok series contains linocuts by around 10 contemporary artists with their own artistic signature.

Ruckhäberle lives and works in Leipzig.
