Christoph Scherrer (2013)

Christoph Scherrer (* 1956 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German economist and political scientist . He has been professor for globalization and politics at the University of Kassel since 2000.

Life

Scherrer received his PhD with a thesis on the US auto and steel industries. He completed his habilitation in 1999 with a thesis on the implementation of liberal foreign trade policy in the USA. Scherrer has taught at the JF Kennedy Institute at Freie Universität Berlin and at Rutgers University in Newark, and received a JF Kennedy Memorial Fellowship at Harvard University .

Scherrer heads the two English-language master's programs (MA Global Political Economy and MA Labor Policies and Governance) in the Political Science department . He is spokesman for the International Center for Development and Decent Work, which has been awarded for excellence in development cooperation by the DAAD , co-head of the HBS and hbs-sponsored doctoral program Global Social Policies and Governance, member of the Steering Committee of the Global Labor University , which has trade unionists on four continents Master's level in political science and economics. Prize winner "Excellence in Teaching" from the State of Hesse 2007.

His research interests lie in the field of international political economy , in particular the control of the world market in terms of social and ecological sustainability.

Scherrer is a member of Attac's Scientific Advisory Board .

He comments on current issues in the daily media, for example in the left-wing newspaper Junge Welt or in the taz .
