Christoph Schwabe

Christoph Schwabe (* 1934 in Chemnitz-Rabenstein ) is a German music therapist , musician and painter .

Schwabe studied music education , musicology and psychology at the University of Leipzig , and then worked as a freelance musician, educator and critic. From 1960 to 1979 he built up the subject of music therapy at the medical faculty of the same university. He did his doctorate and habilitation at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and was a lecturer in educational psychology at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden from 1980 to 1992 . In 1992 he founded the Academy for Applied Music Therapy Crossen and took over its scientific management in the first few years. In Bad Klosterlausnitz , Schwabe was named honorary chairman of the German Music Therapy Association for the Promotion of the Schwabe eV concept in 2000.
