Life

Holzschuher came from the Holzschuher von Harrlach family and was the son of the secret and supreme war councilor Karl Siegmund von Holzschuher. Christoph Siegmund von Holzschuher received his high school education at the Nuremberg Aegidianum . From 1748 to 1750 he studied in particular jurisprudence at the University of Göttingen . After a one-year educational trip, he came back to Nuremberg. First he devoted himself to the studies in the Imperial City Archive in Nuremberg. In 1754/1755 he became an adjunct at the weighing and customs office of the imperial city, and in 1760/1761 he was employed as a bailiff, which he held until his death. In 1767, in this role, he submitted a 180-page document with suggestions for improvement.

Holzschuher bought Vestenbergsgreuth in 1756 in order to be accepted into the imperial knighthood . On July 13, 1772, after overcoming various obstacles, he was accepted into the imperial knighthood. He did not marry, which is why he was denied higher offices in the city.
