Christoph Spehr (born May 20, 1963 in Augsburg ) is a German author and politician .

biography

education and profession

Spehr studied social and economic history in Munich and received his doctorate in Bremen in 1993 . He was involved in development and science policy organizations, some in management positions, as well as in the GEW trade union .

In his works, Spehr initially criticized the environmental movement , which neglects social conditions and in particular the relations of domination in its relation to nature . Around the turn of the millennium , books such as The Aliens Are Among Us and articles such as liberation theories in the moose test achieved cult status in parts of the social movements because of the explanation of political connections using popular cultural means . Later work deals with left politics .

Spehr lives in Bremen with his partner and two children.

politics

From 1981 to 1989 he was a member of the SPD , since 2005 he has belonged to the party Die Linke , he was spokesman for the Bremen regional association for several years . He was (together with Julia Bonk ) the federal spokesman for the party movement Emancipatory Left .

Honors

In 2001 Spehr received a prize from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation for his essay Equal Than Others. A foundation for free cooperation .
