Christoph von Gemmingen

Christoph von Gemmingen (* 1571 ; † 1616 in Augsburg ) was provost of the cathedral in Augsburg.

Life

He was the son of Liebenfels landlord Hans Christoph von Gemmingen (1544–1596) and Margaretha von Jahrsdorf († 1591). Like many other members of his family, he entered the service of the prince-bishop of Augsburg , where his uncle Johann Otto von Gemmingen was prince-bishop from 1591 to 1598 . He became provost of the cathedral in Augsburg. 1615 he gave together with the Chapter of the prince provost Ellwangen Balthasar Heyden tavern and Schenk instead in Hohenaltheim .

He died in 1616 and was buried in the cloister of Augsburg Cathedral . In 1620 his brother Johann had a special altar built for him next to the rear choir of the cathedral church and donated an anniversary for him.
