Christoph von Schwalch

Christoph von Schwalch , also Christoffer (born May 14, 1649 ; † 1720 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish lawyer and chancellor of Swedish Pomerania .

Christoph von Schwalch was a son of Christoph Friedrich von Schwalch († 1656), who had been raised to the Swedish nobility in 1643, and Christina Potsig (1615–1697). The father was the royal secretary of the Swedish chancellery in the Holy Roman Empire . His grandfather Samuel Schwalch († 1615) was the city councilor in Stettin and at the same time the syndic of the Eastern Pomerania estates .

In 1682 Christoph von Schwalch became assessor of the Svea hovrätt . In 1692 he became a councilor in Stettin and in 1693 chancellor of the Swedish government in Pomerania . In the years 1698 and 1699 he belonged to a commission which, under the direction of the Vice-President of the Wismar Tribunal , Wilhelm Julius Coyet , was commissioned by Charles XII. should investigate the coinage in Swedish Pomerania and their influence by the deposed Governor General Nils Bielke . Christoph von Schwalch was one of Bielke's opponents.
