Christoph von Unruh (born May 26, 1624 , † January 29, 1689 in Leszno ) was Starost von Gniezno and Birnbaum , founded the Unruhstadt refugee settlement in 1641 for evangelical refugees from Silesia and, thanks to his religious tolerance, caused an enormous immigration of Protestants during his reign of Birnbaum Religious refugees from all over Germany who wanted to escape the Thirty Years War .

Christoph von Unruh set up his headquarters in the already existing Lindenstadt estate at the gates of Birnbaum, but completely rebuilt it. He built a new castle and his own church for his Protestant protégés on the estate.

Christoph von Unruh traveled to Leszno in 1689 to celebrate the marriage of his son Bogusław von Unruh to Anna Constantia Ludovica von Zychlinska. But he fell ill and died there on January 29, 1689. His body was transferred to Międzychód and buried in the cemetery of the Evangelical Church there. His tombstone is now in the vestibule of the newly built church in 1840.
