Christophe Clement
Christophe Clement (born November 1, 1965 in Paris ) is a French horse racing coach .
Life
Christopher's grandfather and father were already closely connected to horse racing. His grandfather was a French horse owner. Both his father, Miguel Clement, and brother, Nicolas Clement, were successful coaches in Chantilly , France. One of Nicolas' greatest successes was winning the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 1990 with the gallop racehorse Saumarez.
Christophe Clement began his career in France working for Alec Head for a year and a half. In the spring of 1986 he moved to the United States for 18 months . Near Lexington , Kentucky , he initially worked for the Taylor Made Farm. He then worked from September 1986 to November 1987 for coach Shug McGaughey (Claude R. McGaughey III). Back in Europe, Christophe worked for coach Luca Cumani's Bedford House Stables racing team in Newmarket , England .
In the fall of 1991 Christophe returned to the United States and opened his own racing stable with initially six horses. Christophe Clement celebrated his first victory in 1991 with his first horse Spectaculaire in Belmont Park, New York City .
He currently lives with his family in Palm City, Florida .
successes
Since opening his stable, Christophe has had many successes. Since 1992, the winning horse has come from his stable in more than 155 races, including 12 Group I races and 44 Group II races. There are currently around 60 horses in his stable.
In 2007 Christophe was able to place 86 winners out of a total of 355 starts and thus achieve a total of more than 5 million US dollars . Compared to other racing teams, he came 17th in the USA.
