Iłża is a city in Poland in the Masovian Voivodeship .
history
In 1294 the town was granted city rights under Magdeburg law . The town charter was confirmed in 1413 by Władysław II Jagiełło . During the third partition of Poland , the city came to Austria and in 1809 to the newly created Duchy of Warsaw . In 1815 Iłża became part of Congress Poland . After the January Uprising in 1863, Tsar Alexander II reduced the number of towns with town charter on Polish territory, and Iłża lost its town charter in 1867. After the First World War , Iłża became part of the re-established Poland and in 1921 received city rights again. During the attack on Poland in September 1939, the city was occupied by the Wehrmacht . The occupation ended with the advance of the 1st Belorussian Front of the Red Army , the Iłża on January 16, 1945 arrived. As a result, the city became part of Poland again.

In Iłża there is a regional museum on the history of the region.
Buildings
The town's castle was built between 1327 and 1347. The first written mention comes from the year 1334.

The city is located on Landesstrasse 9 , which is also Europastrasse 371 . This leads through Radom in the north after about 25 kilometers . In the south it runs through Rzeszów after 150 kilometers .
The nearest international airport is Warsaw Frédéric Chopin Airport, around 120 kilometers north.
