Cicia [ ðiˈði.a ], also Thithia , is an island of volcanic origin in the Lau Archipelago in the Pacific Ocean . Politically, it belongs to the Eastern Division of the island state of Fiji .

geography

Cicia belongs to the northern group of the Lau Archipelago and is located around 120 km southeast of Taveuni , the third largest island in Fiji, in the Koro Sea . Neighboring islands are Mago , 30 km northeast, Nayau , 30 km southeast, and Tuvuca , 45 km east of Cicia. The island has an approximately round shape with a diameter of about 6.5 km and a striking bay in the south. Cicia has an area of ​​34 km² and reaches a height of 165 m above sea level. The island has five larger settlements, Tarakau in the northwest, Lomaji in the northeast, Tokalau in the east, Naceva in the southeast and Mabula in the south of the island. On the west coast is the island's airport ( IATA code: ICI, ICAO code: NFCI) with a non-asphalt runway. The island is surrounded by a continuous coral reef , only in front of Tarakau it is possible to land with boats. Four kilometers southwest of Cicia is the ring-shaped, atoll- like reef Thakau Nawa with a diameter of about one kilometer.
