The City Center Langenhagen (abbreviated form: CCL ) is a shopping center in Langenhagen . It is located in the city center at Marktplatz 5. It houses around 120 retail and catering establishments on an area of around 30,000 square meters. The CCL opened in 1981. Extensions followed in 1990 and 2012. The new building opened on February 29, 2012 after an 18-month construction period.

architecture

The extension from 2012 was carried out by the architecture office RKW Architektur + under the direction of architect Sven Otte.

The building with two levels blends in well with the cityscape with its clinker brick architecture desired by the city. Brick facades are the predominant material all around. The center of the building is a crescent-shaped room with a curved roof and a fountain on the ground floor. In the Shopping Center Performance Report 2012 by Immobilien Zeitung , City Center Langenhagen was ranked 6th out of 391 shopping centers.

Investors

The Hanseatische Beteiligungs- und Betreuungsgesellschaft (HBB) invested around 80 million euros in expanding the City Center. Dealers financed the expansion of their businesses with a further 20 million euros. In 2013 HBB sold a large part of its shares to the ILG Group from Munich for 66 million euros.

Events

Various events take place regularly in the City Center Langenhagen, such as an annual Christmas or Advent concert or appearances by celebrities such as Marc Terenzi , Torsten “Toto” Heim and Aneta Sablik . In June 2013, a record for continuous play of computer games was set in the City Center . The two Hanoverians Florian Fleissner and Kenny Drews achieved an entry in the Guinness Book of Records with a playing time of 33 hours in Need for Speed: Most Wanted . According to the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung , this is part of an advertising strategy in order to also attract visitors from outside the city.
