Specialty
The ship is characterized by an unusual, aerodynamically rounded bow shape, these types of ship usually look more like "sharpened shoe boxes". This shape should result in a reduction in wind resistance of around 50%. It is expected that this will save up to 800 t of fuel annually. This results in a reduction of around 2500 t of CO 2 emissions.
The “environmentally friendly” design of the ship is part of Nissan's environmental program . Nissan intends to use the ship primarily for the transport of Nissan Leaf electric cars , which were assembled at the British plant in Sunderland , to the ports of the North and Baltic Seas .
