Clarence Munyai (born February 20, 1998 in Johannesburg ) is a South African sprinter .

Athletic career

Clarence Munyai gained his first experience in international championships at the 2016 African Championships in Durban , where he qualified for the final over 200 meters, but did not compete there. With the South African 4 x 100 meter relay he was used in the run-up and won the gold medal by winning the final team. He then took part in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland , where he finished fourth over 200 meters. He also qualified for the first time for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , in which he over 200 meters in the runIt ran for 20.66 s and was eliminated. In 2017 he took part in the Golden Spike in Ostrava over 300 meters, where he set a new junior world record and ranks eleventh (as of 2018) on the all-time best list. At the U20 African Championships in Tlemcen , he won in 20.22 s and set a new championship record. He then took part in the World Championships in London and was disqualified there in the prerun over 200 meters for crossing a level. At the South African Championships in Pretoria in 2018, Munyai ran 19.69 seconds and was the 10th fastest time ever for an athlete. In April he finished fourth over 200 meters in 20.58 s at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast .

In 2016, Munyai was the South African champion in the 200-meter run and the 4-by-100-meter relay.
