ClassPad 300

Casio ClassPad 330 (successor to ClassPad 300 since 2007)

The ClassPad 300 is a graphics-capable, CAS -capable, programmable calculator from Casio , which was one of the first calculators to have a touch screen when it appeared on the market in 2002 (the Sharp EL-9650 with touch screen and pen operation already in the 90s). It is intended for math lessons for both students and teachers. The use (admissibility), especially as an aid for exams, depends in Germany on the requirements of the respective federal state as well as those of the individual schools.

properties

The display is 160 × 240 pixels , the dimensions are 21 × 84 × 189.5 mm and the weight is 280 g. The device is powered by four AAA cells and comes with a stylus . A soft keypad is used to enter commands or terms , which can be shown or hidden as required. When the soft keypad is displayed, the area that can actually be used for displays is therefore reduced. When the soft keypad is hidden, functions and 3D plots can be clearly shown on the display.

The ClassPad 300 has several applications ranging from algebra to spreadsheets to geometry applications . It should be noted that the original ClassPad had a very low-contrast display that is also not illuminated. Low-fatigue work is only possible, if at all, under very good lighting conditions. The protective film that comes with the device also reduces the contrast. With a good film you can at least avoid this. Only the successor model, the ClassPad 300 PLUS received a higher-contrast, albeit strongly reflective, display.

successor

The successor model with the designation ClassPad 330 (market launch 2007) is completely identical in hardware to the predecessor 300 PLUS, it is only delivered with the operating system version 3.x (instead of 2.x). In 2015 this was version 3.06.4000. The new operating system offers some improvements in ease of use, has new financial mathematical functions and masters Laplace and Fourier transformations . It can be connected to a PC, a projector, a computer of the same type or a data analyzer via a USB port. A chargeable update to OS version 3.x is available for the older ClassPad 300 (PLUS).
