Class of '55 is a 1986 album by Roy Orbison , Johnny Cash , Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins and produced by Chips Moman . These four artists and Elvis Presley , to whom parts of the album were dedicated, are the best-known representatives of the so-called Sun sound, which from Sun Records in Memphis (Tennessee) influenced many other artists from 1955, such as Buddy Holly .
The last song on Big Train featured guest stars John Fogerty , The Judds , Dave Edmunds , Sam Phillips and June Carter Cash , as well as Ricky Nelson in the last recording session of his life.
The Interviews from the Class of '55 Recording Sessions were awarded a Grammy in the “Best Spoken Word Album” category.
