Claude Esteban (born July 26, 1935 in Paris , † April 10, 2006 ibid) was a French poet and essayist .

Claude Esteban is one of the great French poets of the last decades. He also wrote essays on poetry and numerous essays on art, both on modern and contemporary artists ( Raoul Ubac , Giorgio Morandi , Marc Chagall , Georges Braque , Maria Helena Vieira da Silva , Arpad Szenes , Eduardo Chillida , Alberto Giacometti , Pablo Picasso .. .) as well as about painters of earlier centuries ( Francisco Goya , Diego Velázquez , Rembrandt van Rijn , Claude Lorrain , Caravaggio ...). He was the founder of the poetry and art magazine Argile , edited by Aimé Maeght (24 H. from 1973 to 1981).
