Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr (born Kunz; * 1963 ) is a German soprano and professor at the University of Music and Dance Cologne , Aachen department .

Live and act

Kunz-Eisenlohr completed her music and singing studies with Ingrid Bettag at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich . She also took master classes with Hans Hotter , Daniel Ferro at the Juilliard School in New York City, and Norman Shetler .

After Kunz-Eisenlohr had played the role of the Queen of the Night from the Magic Flute at several German opera houses and gave numerous recitals and recitals during her studies , she was then given a permanent position at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Semperoper in Dresden for six years. In addition, she has been repeatedly invited to guest performances and opera productions at renowned European opera houses as well as to various important festivals such as the MDR Music Summer , the International May Festival in Wiesbaden , the Dresden Music Festival or the Savonlinna Opera Festival .

Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr mainly took on singing roles beyond the easy lyrical soprano . In addition to the already mentioned role as Queen of the Night, these included the role of Konstanze ( Die Entführung aus dem Serail ), Fiordiligi ( Così fan tutte ), Donna Anna ( Don Giovanni ), Vitellia ( La clemenza di Tito ), the Elettra ( Idomeneo ) from various Mozart operas as well as the roles of Musetta from La Bohème , Sophie from Rosenkavalier or Agatha from Freischütz and all soprano roles in Hoffmann's stories . Important roles in contemporary operas are also part of her repertoire.

In the concert and lied area, Kunz-Eisenlohr has worked on compositions from Henry Purcell to John Cage , concentrating mainly on the interpretation of works from the High and Late Romantic periods, as well as the new music of classical modernism.

In 2003 Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr was appointed to the Cologne University of Music and Dance , where she was taken on as a professor for singing in the Aachen department. In addition, she is a member of the University's Equal Opportunities Commission and is currently a member of the Aachen department alongside Hans-Werner Huppertz and Ilja Scheps under the incumbent Managing Director Herbert Görtz .

Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr is married to the pianist and university professor Ulrich Eisenlohr .
