Life

Stegmann Pérez Millán's parents were Narcisa Pérez Millán y de la Quintana and Klaus Stegmann Kophen called Claudio Stegmann. As one of ten siblings, he attended elementary school in Buenos Aires and then the agricultural school in Osnabrück in the German Empire. He married Adolfina Monhaupt Schram. The children of the marriage were Narcisco († October 31, 1927), Jorge, Adolfo, Enrique, Amalia Carolina, Adolfina, Matilde, Frederico and Susana A. Stegmann Monhaupt.

Stegmann later took over the management of his father's agriculture and introduced merino sheep from Lusatia as well as the sheep breeds Negretti and Rambouillet in Argentina , and bred a horse breed from Cleveland Bay .

On September 9th, 1858, he entered the Masonic Lodge “Augusta y Respetable Logia Consuelo del Infortunio Nº 3”, which later became part of the “Gran Logia Argentina”. Other members of this lodge were the doctors Ricardo Gutiérrez and Ignacio Pirovano and the town planner Pedro Benoit . Claudio Federico Stegmann Pérez Millán was one of the founders of the Sociedad Rural Argentina on July 16, 1866 with his brother Jorge .

In 1870, Stegmann was seen as a mediator between the political camps and was elected governor of Buenos Aires as deputy to Máximo Paz. His opposition to Bartolomé Miter meant that in 1874 he had to accommodate a battalion of the Guardia Provincial on his Estancia “Poronguitos” . During the cholera epidemic, he brought the doctor Ignacio Pirovano to the Estancia “Poronguitos”.

In 1879, soon after Julio Argentino Roca's genocide of the Mapuche , Stegmann founded further estancias on the land of the murdered near Sierras de Pillahuincó . The surrounding land was monitored from the “Cerro de la Guardia”, a hill on the colonized terrain , and the “Fortín Belgrano” was alerted when Mapuche arrived.

On the Coronel Pringles - Bahía Blanca line , the “Stegmann” station was opened in 1903 in the Partido de Pringles in the province of Buenos Aires . With this railway line, the area was opened up and settled with colonists.
