Claus Beissner

Claus Beissner (born April 17, 1935 in Hamburg ) is a former German athlete and sports reporter .

Life

Beissner was active for SuS Bergedorf from 1954 to 1959 . At the German Championships in 1956 he took fourth place with the 4 x 400 meter relay . In 1957 and 1958 , the season reached second place behind the OSV Hörde season .

Beissner studied law in Kiel and started on January 1, 1963 in the sports department of the NDR . From 1981 to 2000 he was head of sports at NDR radio and from 1984 onwards, as the successor to Horst Seifert, head of programming at Eurovision . Beissner was an editor at the Olympic Games from 1968 to 2004. In addition to his professional activity, he volunteered for 25 years as press officer at the German Judo Association , twelve years at the European Judo Union and eight years at the World Judo Association IJF .

In 1977 Rowohlt Verlag published the book Judo by Claus Beissner and Manfred Birod, which was reprinted several times until 1990. Beissner also wrote books about Kung Fu, the sports badge and running.
