Claus Costa (born June 15, 1984 in Fürstenfeldbruck ) is a former German soccer player and current soccer coach .

Career

Costa began his career in the youth of Tus Wengern before moving to Borussia Dortmund . At the beginning of the 1998/99 season he came to VfL Bochum at the age of 14, where he finally made the leap to the first team after stints with the U-19s and the 2nd team. However, he couldn't prevail there.

From 2006 to 2011 the defensive midfielder was under contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf . After he was initially only a substitute player and was also active for the 2nd team of Fortuna, he was able to contribute to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with 25 appearances and two goals in the 2008/09 season . For the 2011/12 season he moved to VfL Osnabrück, where he received a contract until 2013 plus an option. He made his competitive debut for VfL on July 23, 2011 in the away game against SV Darmstadt 98 , when he came on for Andreas Glockner in the 80th minute .

For the 2013/14 season , Costa moved to the regional division FC Viktoria Köln . At the end of the 2015/16 season , Costa ended his playing career and became the club's assistant coach for the 2016/17 season .
