CleanTech literally means clean technologies. In the German and Anglo-Saxon language areas there are no precise and uniform definitions. Generally speaking, CleanTech is understood to mean the idea of using innovative processes, products and services to achieve increases in efficiency, performance or productivity while reducing emissions and conserving resources . In order to reconcile the increasing demand for goods and services with the finite supply of natural resources and the need for climate protection, it is important to combine ecological and economic aspects in sustainable management. The use of CleanTech thus results in environmentally friendly sustainable economic growth.

Accordingly, CleanTech combines the demands of ecological and economic sustainability with an increased sense of social responsibility when using clean technologies. In the process of continuous improvement, constant adjustments are necessary in order to actively advance the state of the art. The term is often used in advertising.

Areas in which the term cleantech is used are exemplary:

Examples of technologies are energy efficiency, non-toxic materials, water purification , solar energy , wind energy and new models in the conservation of energy.
