Clear Lake is particularly popular with tourists in the summer . Next to Clear Lake , which gave the place its name, the main attraction is the Surf Ballroom , where the musicians Buddy Holly , Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper gave their last concert before a plane crash not far from town perished.
