description

Cleistocactus vulpis-cauda grows shrubby with hanging shoots branching at the base and reaches lengths of 1 to 2 meters with diameters of up to 5 centimeters. There are 18 to 22 ribs barely transversely notched . The areoles on it are yellow to dark brown. The up to 50 bendable, whitish to reddish brown, hair-changing thorns are 1 to 2 centimeters long. It is difficult to distinguish between central and radial spines.
