Willy Cullmann

Willy (Wilhelm) Cullmann (born June 8, 1905 in Münnerstadt , Germany ; † January 29, 1992 in Menton , France ) was a German non-fiction author. Cullmann mainly dealt with cactus plants and had a large collection of cacti. Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Cullmann ".

Live and act

He made a name for himself as an expert in columnar cacti . He was very successful in raising, describing and naming newly discovered species. He received the seeds from researchers directly in South America , for example from Friedrich Ritter . Cullmann was a founding member of the International Organization for Succulent Research IOS (Zurich, 1950) and is the author of the reference work "Kakteen" (1963, Verlag Eugen Ulmer, Stuttgart).

Dedication names

According to him, the genre were Cullmannia Distefano and Thrixanthocereus cullmannianus F.Ritter named.
