Clem Portman

Clem Portman (born March 1, 1905 in Proviso , Illinois , † October 21, 1992 in San Clemente , California ) was an American sound engineer .

Life

Portman began his career in the early 1930s and was involved in numerous films, including King Kong and the White Woman , up until the beginning of World War II . During the war he only worked on two films; one of the two was Orson Welles ' masterpiece Citizen Kane . After the war he worked on Frank Capra's classic film Isn't life beautiful? With. Portman has worked on over 200 films during his career. He rarely worked for television, among other things, he worked on 88 episodes of the television series Auf der Flucht between 1963 and 1966 .

In 1970 he was nominated for Gaily, Gaily together with Robert Martin for the Oscar in the category Best Sound . In the same year he retired from the film business. He died in San Clemente at the age of 87.
