Clemens August von Elverfeldt zu Steinhausen (* January 25, 1732 , † January 13, 1783 ) was the Elector of Cologne Chamberlain and Canon in Hildesheim and Münster .
Life
Clemens August von Elverfeld zu Steinhausen came from the Rhenish - Westphalian noble family von Elverfeldt and was the son of Friedrich Christian von Elverfeldt zu Steinhausen and his wife Maria Victorie von Wolff-Metternich . With the receipt of the tonsure on November 30, 1748 by the Cologne Auxiliary Bishop Franz Kaspar von Franken-Siersdorf , he was prepared for a spiritual life. In 1755 he received a cathedral preacher in Münster from the elector with papal permission . Here he was sworn up on June 3, 1755 . With the resignation of his brother Karl Friedrich, Clemens August came into possession of a cathedral canonical in Hildesheim . It was here that the revolt took place on March 6, 1759. After only two years he renounced the benefice and transferred his Münster prebend to his brother Werner August . He married Maria Theresia von Etzbach .
