biography
Dorner comes from Andelsbuch in Vorarlberg and attended the ski school in Stams in Tyrol . He drove his first FIS races in winter 2006/2007 , but had to end the season in January after a knee injury. In 2009 Dorner was accepted into the junior squad of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV), but suffered another knee ligament injury in December 2009, whereupon he could not contest any races for almost the entire winter of 2009/2010. In the 2010/2011 season he achieved his first podium places in FIS races and a third place in the giant slalom of the Austrian youth championships, whereupon he made his first appearances in the European Cup in winter 2011/2012 , but still remained without points. During the 2011/2012 season, Dorner concentrated more on downhill and super-G. He achieved his first successes in the fast disciplines in February and March 2012 with his first victory in an FIS race at the Super-G in Spital am Semmering and second place at the German Super-G championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .
At the beginning of the 2012/2013 season , after being promoted to the ÖSV B squad, Dorner was able to score points in the European Cup for the first time at the races on the Reiteralm , where he immediately made it to the top. First he finished in tenth place in the downhill, before he celebrated his first European Cup victory the following day in the Super-G. In his next European Cup race, the downhill from Wengen on January 10, 2013, Dorner had a hard fall. He suffered tears in the anterior cruciate ligament, the inner ligament and the patellar tendon in his left knee. On September 29, 2015, Dorner announced his resignation.
