Clemens Reif (born January 21, 1949 in Gießen ) is a Hessian entrepreneur, politician ( CDU ) and former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1969, Clemens Reif studied economics between 1970 and 1974 and completed an apprenticeship as a freight forwarder in 1974 .

From 1975 to 1997, Reif held managerial positions in companies in the international freight forwarding and waste disposal industry and was chairman of the board from April 1997 to October 2007 and majority shareholder of Vfw Aktiengesellschaft, Cologne, and managing director of Vfw GmbH until 2004 . Since November 2007, Clemens Reif has been a founding shareholder and board member of Chrilian Aktiengesellschaft based in Herborn. This company is owned equally by Reif and his sons and is involved in renewable energy companies (hydropower plants and solar systems).

Clemens Reif is Catholic, married and has two grown sons.

Clemens Reif has been a member of the CDU since 1966 and has been a member of the Lahn-Dill district since 1972 .

From December 1, 1982 to August 4, 1983 and again from April 27, 1987, Reif was a directly elected member of the Hessian state parliament (constituency 16 - Lahn-Dill I), where he was primarily active in the field of economic and financial policy is. He has been chairman of the Committee for Economics and Transport since November 14, 2006. Reif is one of the very few active entrepreneurs in the Hessian state parliament. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen in Frankfurt since June 2003 . Since 1993 he has been an advisory board member of Sparkassenversicherung , Wiesbaden. Clemens Reif was elected President of the Partnership of Parliaments (PdP) on November 4, 2007.
