history

The Bougainvillea was built under the hull number 301 in the shipyard of Nippon Kokkan in Shimizu and ran on December 26, 1970 by the stack . After delivery to Nippon Car Ferry on April 10, 1971, the ship began ferry service between Osaka and Miyazaki .

After five years of service, the bougainvillea was sold to the Cie Nationale Algerienne de Navigation Maritime (CNAN) in 1976 and renamed Zeralda . In the same year, the ship began service on the route from Oran to Marseille . In 1987 it became the property of Algerie Ferries .

After almost 30 years in service, the Zeralda was sold in May 2005 to the Valletta-based Cleopatra Navigation and used there together with her sister ship Shahd Cleopatra (formerly Hibiscus ) as Cleopatra Moon under the flag of Honduras . In 2010 the ship ended its active service time after 39 years and has been in Suez ever since.
