Cleve (Rensefeld)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cleve (Rensefeld) was a village in what is now the area of the city of Bad Schwartau - Cleverbrück district that last belonged to the rural community of Rensefeld .

The name "Cleve" is derived either from the place name " Kleve ", formerly also "Cleve", which settlers from Westphalia transferred to their new home, or from the name for the slopes in the area (Cleve = " cliff " or "Steep slope"). The land belonging to the village comprised partly sandy, less fertile areas.

  • The village of Cleve was first mentioned in 1197. At this point in time it belongs to the Lübeck Johanniskloster, along with the land on which it is located.
  • In 1246 the village was sold to the bishop of Lübeck ( Johannes I. ) - later it returned to the property of the Johanniskloster. T. is based in Cismar - about.
  • In 1325 Cleve was sold to the custodian of Lübeck Cathedral - at that time it had 10 hooves - who donated it to Lübeck Cathedral in 1333 (with which Cleve came into the possession of the Lübeck Cathedral Chapter as part of the Lübeck Monastery).

By 1700 the number of hooves is reduced to four. In 1799 the number was reduced to three Hufen by merging property, and in 1847 to two Hufen on the same route. Ferdinand Björnsen acquired one of the hooves in 1897 - who shortly thereafter also acquired the other hoof - which meant that the village no longer existed at this point at the latest.

The Cleverhof farm was laid out on the site of the village of Cleve.

From 1904 Ferdinand Björnsen developed the Cleverbrück villa colony on the southeastern part of his possessions on the Lübeck Landgraben and Tremser Teich .

With the transition of the village Cleve to the Hochstift Lübeck in 1333 , the border between Lübeck and Cleve became a state border. In the following time, a settlement known as Clever Landwehr was formed in the southwestern corner of the Clever Feldmark (directly on the border with Lübeck, which ran east-west along the Lübeck Landgraben and from there to the north) , whose economic basis was essentially smuggling duration.

Others

  • Only the street name "Clever Landstrasse" reminds of the former village "Cleve".
