Clive Stafford Soley, Baron Soley (born May 7, 1939 ) is a British politician and life peer of the Labor Party .

Clive Soley studied at the University of Strathclyde , the University of Southampton , and the Newbattle Abbey College of Education . Before he was elected as a Labor MP in the constituency of Hammersmith North in the British general election in 1979 , he worked as a probation officer in London from 1970 . After the constituency of Hammersmith North, which he represented as an MP until 1983, he was elected in the Hammersmith constituency and from 1997 to 2005 he represented the constituency of Ealing, Acton and Sheperd's Bush .

Clive Soley was the Shadow Minister for Northern Ireland from 1981 to 1984 and he was a member of the Northern Ireland Affairs Select Committee from 1994 to 1997 and chaired it from 1995 to 1997.

Between 1997 and 2001, Clive Soley was the chairman of the Parliamentary Labor Party .

On June 29, 2005, Clive Soley was inducted into the House of Lords as Baron Soley , of Hammersmith in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham .
