Cloud Nothings is an American lo-fi - band from Cleveland , Ohio . It is also attributed to indie rock .

history

The band's front man , Dylan Baldi, formed the band in 2009 to "sweeten" his time at Case Western Reserve University . The other members Joe Boyer, TJ "Juck" Duke and Jayson Gerycz soon joined him.

The first album by Cloud Nothings was released on October 12, 2010 under the name Turning On and received positive reviews. Among other things, the music portal Pitchfork gave it a 7.9.

The release of the second album, Cloud Nothings, followed on January 25th, 2011. This was recorded in Baltimore and also rated positively.

Almost a year later to the day, on January 24, 2012, the band's third album, Attack On Memory , was released. This was also noticed in Germany , so that among others the Bayerischer Rundfunk wrote an article about the work and compared the sound of the band with Kurt Cobain . The band hired Nirvana producer Steve Albini to produce the album .

All three albums were released on Carpark Records .

  • Much of the songs on the first album were recorded on Baldi's computer in his Westlake home .
  • Attack on Memory was the first album in 2012 in the "Best New Music" category on Pitchfork.
  • The band name comes from a list of fake bands for which Dylan Baldi created random Myspace pages while studying saxophone.
