Club Real

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Club Real is an artist group founded in Berlin in 2000 that has been realizing participatory, site-specific projects since 2000: installations, one-on-one encounters, political role-plays and participatory urban development projects invite visitors to come up with alternative reality designs to help shape. Club Real is currently working in Berlin on the participatory political experiment “Beyond Nature_Volksherrschaft im Garten” (political rights for all living beings in the model project) and was invited to the Impulse Festival 2019 with this work. At the 13th Biennale 2019 in Havana, Cuba Club Real was represented with the immersive performance installation "LASA10CARNAVAL". The works encompass a variety of artistic forms of expression and move freely between art installations , design , action art , performance and theater .

Club Real currently (as of 2020) consists of Mathias Lenz, David Lindemann, Paz Ponce, Marianne Ramsay-Sonneck, Georg Reinhardt and Thomas Hauck. Hauck (* 1974 in Hartberg / Austria) studied at the University of Vienna and the Edinburgh College of Art, among others. He received his diploma in 2003 from the University of Hanover for the documentation Das Unser Graceland Handbuch . Ramsay-Sonneck (* 1975 in Vienna ) studied acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and graduated in 1997 with a diploma. She had engagements in television productions and appeared at the Marburger Schauspiel and the Frankfurter Schauspiel, among others. Georg Reinhardt was also born in Vienna as Georg Springer (* 1972 in Vienna). He also graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with a diploma in 2007 and then worked as an actor and director at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, among others. He is one of three members of the jury for the 2010 Forum Scholarship at the Linz Art University . From 2000 to 2008, Christoph Theussl also belonged to Club Real.

The group invented the term “scenic installation” for one of Club Real's central working methods. In this form, the installation and the scenic action are mutually dependent. The visitor experiences the scenic, mostly interactive action in or in direct relation to the installation. Many of Club Real's projects are developed for specific locations and include uses and narratives that seek an expanded understanding of the reality and potential of the location.
