The Coal Creek is a 56 km long tributary of Beluga Lake in South Central Alaska .
Coal Creek rises in the northeast of the Tordrillo Mountains near the Hayes River Pass . The river flows mainly in a south-easterly direction through the mountains. From the right, a nameless tributary flows into Coal Creek. This drains the only glacier area north of Strandline Lake in the Coal Creek catchment area. In the lower reaches, Coal Creek also takes in West Fork Coal Creek from the right and finally flows into the north shore of Beluga Lake. About eight miles above the estuary is Coal Creek Lake , 500 m from the left bank .
The river was named by the US Geological Survey (USGS) in 1958 . The name ( coal English for "coal") probably refers to a coal deposit discovered on the river.
