The Beluga Lake is a 47 km² large lake in southwest Alaska .
Beluga Lake is 90 km west of Anchorage at the foot of the Tordrillo Mountains . Located at a height of 75 m , Beluga Lake is 11.2 km long and 5.2 km wide. The lake was created as a glacial edge lake of the Triumvirate Glacier . Due to its retreat, its glacier tongue only extends 5.5 km to the western shore of the lake. Two drains drain the glacier to Beluga Lake. The Chichantna River , which is the outflow of the Capps Glacier , flows into the southeastern shore of the lake . The Coal Creek , another tributary, flows into the northern lakeshore. The Beluga Lake is drained eastwards to the Cook Inlet via the Beluga River .
The lake was named in 1904 by the US Geological Survey (USGS) after its outflow, the Beluga River.
