Cobi Benatoff

Cobi Benatoff (born April 15, 1944 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli - Italian entrepreneur . From 2003 to 2005 he was President of the European Jewish Congress .

Life

Benatoff was born in Israel in 1944 and has lived in Italy since 1947. He studied economics at the University of Milan and the University of California, Los Angeles . From 1962 to 1964 he served in the infantry ( Nachal and paratroopers ) of the Israeli Army . After graduating in 1968, he joined the family business Fideco SPA , which focuses on the food industry and real estate business.

Benatoff has been a member of the Jewish community in Milan since 1986 , of which he was president from 1990 to 1998. From 2002 to 2006 he was on the board of the Italian umbrella organization. From 2003 to 2005 he was President of the European Jewish Congress (EJC). He then held various positions at the World Jewish Congress , of which he is currently treasurer. He is u. a. Member of the Jewish Claims Conference and the European Council of Jewish Communities . He headed the latter from 1999 to 2003.

He is married and has three children.
