Pierre Besnainou

Pierre Besnainou (* 1955 in Tunis ) is a French entrepreneur . From 2005 to 2007 he was President of the European Jewish Congress .

Life

Besnainou was born into a middle-class Jewish family in the French protectorate of Tunisia . In 1972 he moved to Paris . He worked in import and export and was head of Groupe Kaisui from 1981 to 1995 . From 1998 to 2001 he was founding president of the listed IT company LibertySurf .

He founded the Jewish emigration organization AMI . In 2006 he took over the management of the charity Fonds social juif unifié (FSJU). From 2005 to 2007 he was President of the European Jewish Congress (EJC). In 2010 he became chairman of the Fondation du judaïsme français . He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Peres Center for Peace , the Weizmann Institute for Science and the Jewish Agency for Israel . He also heads a working group against anti-Semitism with a colleague for the Jewish Agency for Israel . He is also a member of the Unified Jewish Social Fund and the Franco-Israeli Chamber of Commerce.

He is married and has three children.
