Coca-Cola Cup 2001 (Zimbabwe)

The Coca-Cola Cup 2001 was a three-nation tournament that was held from June 23 to July 7, 2001 in Zimbabwe in one-day cricket . In the tournament, which was part of the 2001 international cricket season, teams from India and the West Indies took part alongside the host . In the final, the West Indies were able to prevail against India with 16 runs.

prehistory

The competition took place between the India tour to Zimbabwe and the West Indies tour to Zimbabwe . Shortly before the tournament, Zimbabwean captain Heath Streak resigned as he opposed political interference in the squad selection. After further discussions, he resigned from his resignation.

format

In a preliminary round, each team played against each other three times. There were two points for a win and one point for a draw or no result. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
