The Col du Silberloch ("Silberloch Pass") is a 906 meter high pass on the Route des Crêtes in the Vosges , in the Haut-Rhin department ( France ). It binds the communities of Wuenheim and Wattwiller .

Surname

The name Silberloch comes from the Alemannic words silver and hole . It proves the presence of silver mines in the 15th and 16th centuries.

geography

The pass connects the Wuenheimerbachtal (municipality of Wuenheim ) with the Sielberlochrunztal (municipality of Wattwiller ). It lies between the foothills of the Molkenrain (1,125 meters high) and the rocky promontory of the Hartmannswillerkopf (956 meters high).
