Colette Demaizière

Colette Demaizière (born 1929 in Pierre-de-Bresse ; died February 9, 2016 there ) was a French Romance philologist and grammar historian.

life and work

Colette Dumont-Demaizière was Assistant from 1969 and Maître-Assistant from 1975 at the University of Avignon . She completed her habilitation in 1979 at the Sorbonne with the Thèse La grammaire française au XVIème siècle supervised by Robert Loriot . Les grammairiens picards (2 vols., Lille 1983, Paris 2008) and became professor of French at the University of Lyon III in 1981 (where she was also dean for ten years). In 1994 she retired.

Colette Demaizière edited eight French grammars of the sixteenth century (and translated those written in Latin into French). She was a knight in the Ordre national du Mérite .
