Colin Long (tennis player)

Colin Foster Long (born March 23, 1918 in Melbourne , Victoria , † November 8, 2009 ) was an Australian tennis player .

Life and achievement

Long's greatest successes are winning the Australian Open four times in mixed competitions in 1940, 1946, 1947 and 1948, all of which were achieved with his partner Nancye Wynne . In 1939 and 1948 he also reached the final of the Australian Open in men's doubles.

Overall, Long was able to win six tournaments in the course of his career. As a single player he was moderately successful, reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian championships from 1947 to 1950 are his top results at a Grand Slam tournament.
