Story and concept

The Alternative Collection, in lower case on the book cover like the magazine Alternative , which Hildegard Brenner published in 1964–1982, was founded by Hildegard Brenner when she was appointed to the chair for literary theory and sociology at the University of Bremen in 1971. Each band has two counts: 1 = 19, 2 = 35, 3 = 40, 4 = 60, 5 = 87, 6 = 97, 7 = 123. The series wanted to advance the methodological discussion around the analysis of superstructure phenomena.
